In my building, most people have their ID badges clipped to the belt loop on their pants (well, the men clip them there... the ladies don't always have belt loops - but that is beside the point). Anyway, in the elevator today there was a gentleman dressed in a suit (not the norm for Marathon culture) and I had not seen him before. So I took note of his name as I was curious who he was (perhaps he was important and I should know him). He also had a bit of a Euro look to him... I can't place what it was, he just looked European. Well... when I looked at his ID badge, I discovered that his name is Thor. Seriously... how cool would it be to be named Thor?
On a side note... his name reminded me of the old 80's movie Adventures in Babysitting. Does anyone remember this movie? It starred Elizabeth Shue. Cheesy, but definitely entertaining for me as an 11 year old kid.

Oh, man, Todd, this was a great post. He was most definately Euro, and the god of thunder. I do remember the movie. Thor was played by the guy who also plays Vince Vaughn's bro in The Breakup.

"Movie", not "move" dork!

There I go again... dangit! Thanks for the correction, P.
As long as we're on patrol, it's not spelled "immportant."
Well, Laurie, when you are Thor, the Norse god of thunder... maybe it is spelled that way. I'm just sayin' Norse gods operate under a different set of rules... but I have fixed it to please you nonetheless.
I sure hope Thor doesn't smite you for it...
I think the grammar patrol is getting a little ruthless these days! And I have to admit, I absolutely loved Adventures in Babysitting. "Nobody leaves this place without sangin' the blues..." :-)
Does anyone remember Adventures in Babysitting? Puh-lease. Not only do I remember it... I OWN IT. For real. It is one of my all time faves. That's how I roll.
Here is your trivia tidbit for today: Adventures in Babysitting is currently being remade. It will star Raven Simone (aka Olivia on The Cosby Show).
oh i so remember that movie and it was the first thing i thought of when you said "thor". the little girl was obsessed with him and had lightning bolts coming out of the sides of her cap. and can anyone really forget elizabeth shue singing the "babysitting blues"? yeah, i wish i could...
I think he made it up. You know someone doesn't really name their child Thor!...surely! I bet his name is really Thornton and he got sick of people calling him out!
I am pleasantly surprised that so many of you not only remember the movie... but liked/like it.
Perhaps a group viewing is on the horizon... ya think?
I would definitely be game for a group viewing! :-)
I have never seen the movie. That, and The Goonies. I feel like my parents deprived me of a normal childhood...
I would say to anyone who has not seen "The Goonies" that they are dead to me, but Goonies never say die, so I guess I shouldn't.
todd richards, you are too funny.
I still remember reinacting the scene where Elizabeth Shue sings in her bedroom - the opening scene in fact. What I wouldn't have done to be Elizabeth Shue at that time.
The Goonies is a total classic. Boyfriends were screened by this movie. Either it was..okay, you're normal, you like the Goonies OR where have you been all your life...get outta here!
