I will start with this... the fact that Crash won Best Picture restores my "respect" (for lack of a better word) for the Academy. It truly is a great movie. Difficult to watch in parts, but some great commentary on human behavior. I highly recommend checking it out if you have not.
The rest of the Oscars were somewhat underwhelming to me. It almost seems as if the whole Oscars event has passed its prime. Could it be that there are just too many other award shows these days? Not sure. Or maybe it is more a function of my own perception of Hollywood and such. Thoughts?

I agree that Crash was a good film, and it certainly was one of the better contenders in Best Feature.
On the whole, by my general rule of thumb (number of nominated movies I've seen), this year was better than last year (five versus three).
As I say here, I watch most films on my HD set at the house. The dearth of politeness among theatergoers factors in here heavily.
I thought Crash was good too. There were only a few movies on the list Sunday night that I had even seen. We printed out ballots off the internet and made predictions before it started. I got a lot wrong!
I got your text message the other day. You made me laugh out loud!!! I guess you're still drinking it straight out of the bottle, huh? Do you keep a bottle in your desk drawer too? For an afternoon snack, right? :) How's the cough?
I saw none of the films nominated for Best Picture, but for what it's worth, I have had the song "It's hard out here for a pimp" permanently imprinted on my brain. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
I'm just glad that someone wrote a song about my life and that someone is trying to feel my pain!
I've been trying to get Michael to watch Crash. We may have to rent it the next time we go get a movie. I'll have to let him know it's recommended by you.
I've always thought awards' shows are boring! Not enough entertainment for me.
Update. We need a update.
An update is forthcoming... patience, my friend... patience.
It's been 2 weeks. We're tired of being patient. :) People always harass me too about that.
The people want to hear from you, T-Rich! Stop "blog teasing" us!! The peeps demand more!!!
