Choices...

Being that it is 11:40, I am ready to go to lunch. So I was just thinking to myself, "I want to eat something delicious for lunch..." As those words rolled through my mind, some antagonistic words marched up to the line as if to wage war. Those words were, "healthy... salad... eat better in 2007..."

I am not kidding when I say that there was a visible change in my facial expression.... so now I am left to decide: Delicious or Healthy?

Hmmmm.....

in my head, it goes like this... "healthy... salad... eat healthy in 2007... YUCK... french fries, YES!"

i then proceed to the nearest Burger King (which is about 45 seconds from my office)

Toddy, what did you decide? Inquiring minds want to know...

Todd, do you mean that you have been untouched by the millions of marketing dollars that have been spent to spread the word about how healthy food can be delicious too?

Is it just me, or does anyone think it's funny that some people's entire CAREER is devoted to marketing that message, and yet, being very close to - if not often directly in - the target market, without a fleeting second thought you consider the two to be diametrically opposed?

Don't worry...I'm sure you're not alone. Clearly the delicious healthy food marketers have a steep uphill battle.

Ryan,
That has to be one of the funniest blog comments I've read in a long time.

I always just picture my arteries. Have you seen a picture of clogged arteries? Not pretty. In the future, do you want one more Christmas with your grandkids--or do you want one more Quarter Pounder with cheese?
Happy thoughts.

Okay. Okay. I am the woman who ate fish sticks and cereal for dinner last night--so take these comments with a grain of a salt derivative.

To answer Laurie's question... I ate at Thai Spice. I always regret eating there because I eat too much... and I usually opt for the more spicey dishes. But it is tasty.

Todd, I fully support your efforts for eating better in 2007! I too struggle with my cravings. Of course, it goes something along the lines of the ice cream-versus-no-dessert-decision each night, while Damien happily munches away at a chocolate ice cream on a stick, smothered with a dark chocolate hard coating and little crispies. Yum! Hang in there...I've lost 4 kilos so far (about 9 lbs) this year. If I can eat healthy, anyone can.

Hey, Todd, Thai Spice is a great choice, because even if it weren't already good for you, the spiceness helps your body feel better about itself! Not to mention the added benefits later.
